Ο δήμος της πόλης του Σάο Πάολο πρόκειται να προσφύγει στην δικαιοσύνη εναντίον της εταιρίας Siemens, την οποία κατηγορεί για δημιουργία καρτέλ, ανακοίνωσε σήμερα ο κυβερνήτης της ομώνυμης πολιτείας Ζεράλδου Αλκμίν.

Η γερμανική επιχείρηση φέρεται να συνεργάστηκε με άλλες διεθνείς κατασκευαστικές εταιρίες από το 2001 ως το 2007 και να εναρμόνισε τις τιμές στις προσφορές που υπέβαλε στους διαγωνισμούς για να αναλάβει για την κατασκευή του μετρό της πόλης, όπως ανέφερε ο κυβερνήτης σε συνέντευξη Τύπου.

Εκτός της Siemens, η καναδική εταιρία Bombardier, η ισπανική CAF, η γαλλική Alstom καθώς και η ιαπωνική Mitsui φέρονται να συμμετείχαν επίσης στην αθέμιτη αυτή εναρμόνιση τιμών, σύμφωνα με ένα δημοσίευμα στην εφημερίδα Folha de São Paulo. SAO PAULO--The Brazilian state of Sao Paulo will file a lawsuit this week against Siemens AG (SI) to try to recover money the company allegedly overcharged the state for trains sold by a consortium to city and regional transportation networks, a spokesman for the state said Tuesday.

A spokesman for Siemens said Wednesday the company isn't aware of "any complaint or legal opinion that we could comment on."

The German company posted a letter to the public on its Brazilian unit's website on Aug. 9, saying it is fully complying with Brazilian requests for information and can't comment because an investigation is still under way.

Brazil's antitrust authority, known as CADE, said in July that it had signed a leniency agreement that led to an investigation into a possible cartel that allegedly set prices ahead of time in bids for government contracts, but the agency hasn't said which companies allegedly are involved.

Sao Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin announced the planed lawsuit at a press conference Tuesday.

The state of Sao Paulo has had access to documents from the investigation after a federal judge ruled that CADE had to give them to state officials, said Felipe Neves, a press spokesman for Sao Paulo state.

The amount the state hopes to recover isn't known, and will depend on the results of the investigation on how much Siemens allegedly overcharged, he said.

State officials twice asked Siemens to provide information on its actions, but the company declined to help both times, said Mr. Neves.
